The new permanent exhibition ART FOR LIFE presents in six thematically divided halls a plastic and vivid image of European applied art from antiquity to 20th and 21st century design. More than 1,300 objects from the museum's collection, which totals half a million exhibits, are on display.

The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague was founded in 1885, between 1897 and 1900 was built the museum building in neo-Renaissance style according to the design of the architect Josef Schulz.

These rich collections include works of decorative and applied art and design from late antiquity to the present day. Emphasis is placed on European objects, especially arts and crafts created in the Czech lands.
