Tips
  • Temporary exhibitions and cultural events are held throughout the year. Check the current programme before your visit.
  • Take a walk through the beautiful château park, which is open all year round.
  • The château complex includes a café and restaurant, making it a pleasant place to relax after your visit.

Located a short distance away from Prague, the Ctěnice chateau has a distinct Classicist appearance. However, it has Gothic origins – dated the 14th century, with its irregular floor plan and the layout around a central courtyard. In the 16th century, this medieval basis underwent a Renaissance remodelling first, and then, two hundred years later, the architect Václav Špaček reconstructed it in the Classicist Baroque style.

At Ctěnice, you will be immersed in the romantic atmosphere of a Bohemian chateau – besides, it is surrounded by delightful grounds with apple orchards, a horse stable with an equestrian arena, and a special area for kids.

Also, if you are interested in local history, you can visit a permanent exhibition dedicated to Guilds and Crafts, illustrating the way early craftsmen’s associations functioned back in the day.
